As a leader who is committed to the field of education, I feel privileged to serve as an instructional leader of Discovery Charter School. Together as a school and community, I feel we can continue to guide the way for all of our students to be successful in ways never imagined possible. I am proud to have been part of the tremendous growth and change Discovery has gone through over the past several years. As I begin my fifth year at Discovery, I am excited to continue working towards our goal of transforming our school into an environment that supports lifelong learning. I stand strongly behind our motto: Engage. Discover. Grow.
I engage with our Duneland community as an educator and longtime resident. I reside in Chesterton with my husband, who also works in the field of education, and our two kids. I am an avid runner who enjoys exploring the local beaches and trails. Before joining an amazing group of educators at Discovery, I served as a teacher in Chesterton for almost 10 years. Though I am no longer a school teacher, my heart will always belong in the classroom.
I began my career as an administrator at Discovery serving as an Assistant Principal (3 years) and am now entering my second year as Principal. Serving as a leader at our school has allowed me to discover my growing passion - supporting our teachers and children in overcoming obstacles that hinder learning.
I continue to grow and challenge myself personally and professionally. After earning both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Purdue, I am delighted to share that I will be pursuing a lifelong dream of mine. This school year, I begin my Ph.D. studies in educational leadership at Purdue University, West Lafayette. I am forever committed in discovering better ways to support all teachers and leaders in the field of education. John Purdue believed that, “Education was the flame that lit the world.” Let’s work together to ensure our children’s future is bright.
