Where Can I Take This?
The following locations take a variety of items from electronics, old shoes, and shredded paper (which is not recycled curbside) to wrappers, coffee pods, and useful household items.
Tips While at School *Turn your car off in car line. This saves you money, the environment, and the lung health of the kids and volunteers waiting *Pack waste free lunches- avoid prepackaged items, fill a reusable water bottle, pack items in reusable stainless or plastic containers. Invest in silicone or fabric “baggies” *Avoid single use plastic as much as you can. If you have something to send to school, reach for a paper bag. 💚
Tips for the home *Reduce first. Just say no to buying all the things. If you need something, borrow it or buy it secondhand. *Reuse second. Think about trying to reuse sour cream containers. Art project? Leftovers? *Recycle as a last resort. This symbol ♻️ DOES NOT mean the item can go in your curbside recycling bin. The statistics on how much actually gets recycled are low. There are a number of reasons for this. As consumers we can purchase sustainable and recycled goods to help this system develop. *Shop local *Bring your own reusable bags and containers for shopping. *Bring your own takeout container to restaurants *Walk *Take only what you need-like at the buffet. A lot of time, energy, and money goes into food production. When we toss our leftovers, we toss the work of farmers, field hands, transports, factory employees, grocers, and many others. *Purchase compact fluorescents lightbulbs *Swap out soaps, shampoos, and conditioners in bottles for bars. Love!! *Turn the heat down a bit and the A/C up a bit-just 1 degree makes a difference
